2K have announced that DLC for The Bureau: XCOM Declassified will receive updates posts launch, including narrative-drive add-on content.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is set before XCOM and will explain the history prior to the timeline of the recently released 2K game.
2K have also revealed that The Bureau DLC will come to Xbox 360 first and the first pack will be available exclusively to those players.
Christoph Hartmann, President of 2K had this to say…
“We take great pride in our track record of providing high-quality post-release content for our games. We will continue to expand the XCOM universe by telling original stories set in the paranoia-drenched Cold War era of The Bureau.”
Morgan Gray, development director at 2K Marin is equally excited to share the back story with players…
“The alternate 1962 universe that we’ve created for The Bureau is vast and there are many more stories to tell about the early days of XCOM. We’re excited that our stories will provide a new perspective on the war effort, much like how our critically acclaimed Minvera’s Den DLC for BioShock 2 allowed us to present a unique perspective of Rapture.”
Selected retailers will also offer a bonus campaign called ‘Codebreakers’, a special mission where players must investigate a top secret government communications facility that has gone radio-silent.
Those who pre-order with GAME will also receive a Light Plasma Pistol as an in-game item.
The press release explains that early Bureau research into outsider weapons technology came to form the prototype of the light plasma pistol.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified releases August 23rd and we genuinely can’t wait.
