Now confirmed, a sequel to the Tomb Raider reboot is deep in production and will release for next-generation systems. Probably for the best as the latest instalment really did push current hardware to the brink.
Phil Rogers, CEO of Square Enix in Europe and North America posted the exciting confirmation on his blog.
“I am also excited to reveal that we are well into development on a next-generation Tomb Raider sequel – something you may have heard about recently,”
“In the future, we’ll offer gamers more choice, support more platforms and try new things – but we will make sure that whatever the platform, we’ll always keep our focus on raising the quality bar. We feel that is what gamers should expect from a Square Enix game.”
Rogers goes on to say he has spent the last few months “building a senior team in the Americas and Europe,” to support the firm’s new and evolving strategy.
It’s encouraging to hear the news considering Tomb Raider didn’t meet Square Enix’s sales projections (though they were a bit radical…)
Don’t expect much news on this for a while, but it’s at least encouraging to hear that one familiar face will be making an exclusive return to our new systems..
