It seems the huge roster cuts in WWE are having an impact on 2K’s content plans for next year’s grappler.
According to SGO the first post-launch content for WWE 2K2 was to feature Bronson Reed who, unfortunately, was recently let go from the company.
This is just the beginning of the woes, however, as it seems other NXT wrestlers were due to feature in other content packs and as many as 4 of the recently released stars were to be included.
SGO doesn’t have the names of these wrestlers, but does indicate that stars such as Mercedes Martinez and Leon Ruff could have been part of those initial plans.
Because of this, some current DLC plans are said to have been ‘scrapped‘ and internally, there appears to be an entire rethink of what the post-launch content roadmap of WWE 2K22 looks like.
SGO suggest they’ve heard talk of a ‘service of sorts for roster updates’ but this is unconfirmed.
This does make us wonder, with several big name stars like Braun Strowman and Bray Wyatt from the RAW/Smackdown rosters also recently being released, how the cuts have impacted the base game as well.
This would also impact the AEW game which is also currently in development as several WWE stars have recently made the jump over to the new promotion, such as Bryan Danielson, Adam Cole and Ruby Soho.
