Phil Spencer has announced a massive expansion for Xbox Game Pass which will see all Xbox One exclusives arrive the same date as their global release.
This update will be reflected from the release date of Rare’s upcoming Sea of Thieves on March 20. The game will be available to all Xbox Game Pass members from then.
The expansion ties into all currently announced titles, such as State of Decay 2 and Crackdown 3. It will also include new installments of the ‘biggest Xbox One exclusive franchises such as Halo, Forza and Gears of War, on the same day they launch.’
This is obviously a massive statement of intent from Microsoft, who find themselves competing with Sony’s rather poor Playstation Now service and Nintendo’s rumoured subscription service coming to Switch.
Xbox Game Pass launched in June 2017 and has a library of over 100 games – including Halo 5, Recore, Gears 4 and Dead Rising 3 – available at one monthly price. The service went global in September and sees new releases added every month.
