Telltale Games Marvel Project will be Guardians of the Galaxy

Update

This was confirmed at The Game Awards 2016 to be a five part series for PC, Consoles, and Mobile.

This appears to be the beginning of a busy week for Telltale Games. Rumours are abound that the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 3 will drop by Friday. And now it appears that their next project has been leaked. Thanks, of all things, to the US Voice Actor Strike.

With their foray into the DC Universe doing incredibly well, Telltales’ focus now shifts to Marvel and, apparently, the Guardians of the Galaxy universe.

Eurogamer suggest that the game was scheduled to be officially revealed at The Game Awards in December, but with the game appearing on a list of projects affected by the voice-actor strike, this does seem to make plenty of sense.

For one, there’s a Guardians animated series that runs alongside the films. For another, Guardians Vol 2 is scheduled to drop April 2017, so this may very well serve as a link in to these films.

They could, of course, be entirely seperate properties but with so many potential link-ins available to Telltale, it would seem like a potentially wasted opportunity.

Who knows, perhaps this will be Guardians 1.5, explaining what’s happened between the two movies. This has been done with games before, most recently the Bandai Namco published Star Trek video game which told the story before Beyond Darkness. Telltale themselves have also tied into series with their titles before as the Game of Thrones games take place alongside events in the show.

We don’t expect Telltale to confirm anything until The Game Awards show in December. Once there, we’ll probably get a trailer and some early teases of what to expect.

Whatever happens, we’re most definitely hooked on this feeling!

And maybe even a little high on believing.
