The worst kept secret in gaming is finally out of the bag. Rocksteady are back for one last Batman game and it will release in 2014.
Rounding off the Arkham Trilogy, Arkham Knight will feature a fully realized Gotham City and allow players to finally drive around in the Batmobile. What’s more, the game is a XBO/PS4/PC exclusive and will not be coming to PS3/360 nor Wii U.
After the dramatic conclusion to Arkham City, Scarecrow has rounded up some of The Dark Knight’s most ferocious enemies and tasked them with overthrowing Gotham. Everyone from Penguin, Two-Face and Harley Quinn will be involved and Batman must put them down once and for all.
Much like with previous Arkham Games, it also appears there will be DLC allowing you to play as Harley Quinn during Challenge Maps.
Going totally next-gen isn’t a complete surprise, Rocksteady have been in super-secret development for some time and we knew another Batman title was in development when Kevin Conroy revealed he wasn’t in Arkham Origins but he would be in another Batman game.
The game may also be here sooner than expected. While advertising the Harley Quinn DLC, Gamestop have pitched an ad that says the game will release on the 14th October 2014. There is currently no word on whether the multiplayer mode created by Splash Damage for Origins will make a return.
Still not good enough for you? Take a look at this absolutely fantastic trailer. One of the finest we’ve ever seen, quite frankly. Yes, even compared to THAT Dead Island one…
