No, you read this right. Borderlands 2 is apparently getting new DLC.
After seven years and 12 DLC packs already, Gearbox are ready to give their crown jewel one last hoorah as they prepare for Borderlands 3.
According to dataminers who grabbed the info from a SteamDB page, Borderlands 2 farewell DLC will be called ‘Commander Lilith & The Fight For Sanctuary’.
The listing for the page briefly appeared on Steam before it was quickly taken down. Not quickly enough for the internet, though.
The content is scheduled to be released on June 9th and will supposedly be free to those who own the game.
It will raise the level cap to 80 and add new bosses, areas, and loot. At least, that’s what the description says.
Return to the award winning shooter-looter for a new adventure that sets the stage for the upcoming Borderlands 3. Sanctuary is under siege, the Vault’s map has been stolen and a toxic gas is poisoning Pandora. Fight new bosses, explore new zones, get new loot (including an entirely new tier beyond Legendary) and join up with Lilith and the Crimson Raiders to take on a deranged villain hell-bent on ruling the planet
Returning players can pursue an increased level cap of 80, while newcomers can automatically boost to level 30 and dive straight into the action.
It seems like it will bridge the story between Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3, which would make a lot of sense.
And that June 9th date is interesting because Microsoft just so happen to have an E3 Press Conference on the same day. Could they announce it there?
Coincidentally, Borderlands 2 The Handsome Collection is now available for PS Plus owners. So you’re a subscriber, you can play it all for absolutely nothing.
Technically, this is still a rumour right now and we don’t normally cover those. But the evidence is pretty overwhelming, so…
