Diablo 4 isn’t too far away now and so marketing is really starting to ramp up.
We’re also being told about life post-release and it seems to be pretty vast, exciting and robust indeed. In a blog post today from Blizzard, we got insight from the core creative team behind the project.
In the post, they talk about Seasons, the journey through seasons, the in-game shop and the Battle Pass.
Seasons are ‘quarterly releases’ and the first will begin ‘mid to late July’. These seasons add new gameplay features, additional questlines, items, class changes, QoL improvements and fresh ideas.
It has also been stated that you will need to have finished Diablo 4 before Season 1 releases.
Season Journey has also been highlighted and it serves as an easy point of reference for new content available to each player. This helps you level up the Battle Pass, and is filled with objectives which offer useful rewards and favor, which is used to level up through tiers of the Pass.
A Battle Pass will also become available with each season and these offer various rewards from 27 free tiers and 63 premium tiers, only unlockable by purchasing a Premium Battle Pass, the first of which is available with the Digital Deluxe Edition of Diablo 4.
You can gather cosmetics and smoldering ashes resources. These can then be spent on Season Blessings, adding boosts to XP gains, gold and more.
There is also a third Battle Pass available, the Accelerated Battle Pass which encompasses all benefits of the Premium pass, as well as 20 Tier Skips, and a special cosmetic which costs around $24.99 or 2,800 Platinum.
There will also be an in-game shop full of armor sets, transmogs, weapons and more. None of the cosmetics sold in the shop provide anything greater than aesthetic variety and enhance the fantasy nature of the game.
These cosmetics will rotate on a regular basis and must be purchased with Platinum. Once purchased, they are also usable for all characters of that class on your account. There’s also a cross-purchase feature which is tied to your Battle.net account.
And that’s just the beginning of what to expect, with more to be revealed in the coming weeks. Diablo 4 is going to be an absolute juggernaut and we don’t have much longer to wait as it launches June 6, with early access beginning June 1.
