Two of the biggest games on Wii U, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Hyrule Warriors, will make the jump to Switch in the first half of 2018.
Both games will be definitive editions with all available content as well as new features and additions.
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition brings the legendary Zelda franchise to the Dynasty Warriors universe and is similar in style to the recently released Fire Emblem Warriors. The Switch version includes all 29 playable characters from both Wii U and 3DS versions of the game, and also adds the Breath of the Wild variations of Link and Zelda to the game.
Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition will boast full 1080p support and even let you play split screen on one Switch using two Joy Cons. It releases in the Spring.
Meanwhile, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is a magnificent platformer that kind of went under the radar on Wii U, and is now getting some new bells and whistles. You will also have a playable Funky Kong in a chilled new mode.
Funky Kong can double jump, hover, perform infinite rolls and even perform infinite underwater corkscrews. His board also means that spikes can’t hurt him and can even spin longer in the air after bopping on the heads of his enemies. As with Hyrule Warriors, you can also enjoy co-op on one Switch with two Joycons. Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze will release May 4.
Both games are sure to be welcome additions to Switch, joining Mario Kart 8 and Bayonetta 2 as more major Wii U games making the jump to Nintendo’s new hybrid console. Super Smash Brothers is surely around the corner, right?
