DOOM: The Dark Ages Premium Edition includes campaign DLC and 2 days early access

It’s May, which means it’s time to rip and tear again in the Dark Ages with DOOM!

The Slayer is back, in a slightly unorthodox way that might make people feel like they’re playing OG Quake than encountering mayhem on Mars.

But this is an exciting prequel to DOOM and DOOM Eternal from ID Software and is considered the third of instalment of the modern series as players once again take reigns as the DOOM Slayer.

The Dark Ages, as before, is a single-player first experience and is as grizzly, grotty, and grotesque as ever, but is also complimented by some of the most striking visuals on modern systems.

With weapons like the brand new Shield Saw and classic Super Shotgun back in the mix, the Slayer has all the diverse offense he needs to take on all sorts of demonic threats. He can even drive a mech!

DOOM: The Dark Ages also has two other editions beyond the standard version, with the Premium Edition giving you two days early access, enabling you to play from May 11. Premium Edition owners can also grab a Digital Artbook and Soundtrack and a Divinity Skin Pack and DOOM Slayer Skin.

The Void DOOM Slayer Skin looks suitably metallic, with a real silver drip complimented by a fur cape. Meanwhile the Divinity Skin Pack has ‘matching skins for the DOOM Slayer, dragon and Atlan’ to make those sections of the game feel slightly more tailored and unique.

Of course, most excitingly is the promise of campaign DLC. We don’t know what this will be or even how much we can expect – more information will follow – but DOOM Eternal had a pretty awesome two part DLC – The Ancient Gods – that offered both a tough challenge but equally an enjoyable experience. So we know DOOM and ID Software know how to do extra content.

DOOM: The Dark Ages, of course, will go straight into Xbox Game Pass on May 13, but it will also be available on PC, and PlayStation. With the Premium Edition, you can start playing from May 11, just over a week away.

Are you ready for more DOOM?
