Square Enix has officially revealed details on the main characters from Final Fantasy XV, which also gives some insight into some of the game’s plot.
First up, we have Noctis Lucis Caelum, or “Noct”, as he is more often referred to as who, after a childhood affliction, is left with the ability to sense the deaths of others. Despite being the apparent heir to the throne of Lucis, he tends to reject royal conventions and acts as somewhat of a renegade, much to the dismay of those who tend to him. Despite his sometimes brash attitude, “Noct” tends to do so in defense of those loyal to him.
Gladiolus Amicitia, as lord of the noble House Amicitia, continues a line sworn to protect the crown. “Gladio” shares a friendship with Noctis that goes beyond birth and title, and his loyalty to the liege is born not of duty, but is instead one of brotherhood.
Ignis Scientia was raised to offer his unwavering voice of reason and weaned on shrewd logic and a classical education so that he might one day counsel the would-be-king, Noctis. They both share a deep mutual understanding and a great trust built on years of familiarity.
Prompto Argentum is a mischevious playboy who befriended Noctis in his school days. Though he wears a chip on his shoulder as an outsider of the royal circle, he still remains eager to help in all the ways he can.
Lastly, Lord Commander Cor Leonis is a living legend of Lucian lore, who’s devotion to the art of war is surpassed only by that to his king. Though he and Noctis’ band of followers rarely see eye to eye, honour binds him to keep watch over the group and protect them all the same.
Accompanying this is an additional text about the plot, which reads,
The only crystal left to the world lies in the Kingdom of Lucis. Upon striking a peace with the garrison state of Niflheim, Lucis rejoices in having at last brought the cold war to a close. Their celebrations, however, are premature. Under the guise of amity, Niflheim dispels the anti-armament runewall and launches a full-scale invasion of the kingdom. The peaceful lives Crown Prince Noctis and his entourage once knew are consumed by the flames of war as they struggle to mount a resistance.
Final Fantasy XV is to be released on both PS4 and Xbox One, but a release date is as of yet unknown.
