How is it September already? 2022 is going by in a blur.
Traditionally, this time of year is about getting to play the AAA releases we’ve waited all year for but with many getting delayed and seemingly some time slots to fill, it still feels like there’s more to come.
And there’s plenty of things being said out there at the moment, particularly as relates Nintendo. Question is, how much should we take with a pinch of salt?
Previously, we haven’t reported most rumours on Expansive as we haven’t been able to corroborate those stories and we like the information to be confirmed and out there. What we’ve opted to do instead is roundup the week’s top rumours, linking you to the information, but in a twist we’ll review them a few months down the line to see whether there’s actually any merit to them! This might help you keep track of who is spreading false information and who’s reporting checks out.
Please bare in mind none of the information you see below has been confirmed publically by respective publishers / developers and at this time should not be treated as factual.
This week’s top rumours
- It’s Nintendo Direct O’Clock time again. Well, Nintendo haven’t said a single word but the entire industry seems to think there’s a Direct coming at some time or another in the next two weeks. Jeff Grubb and Mike Minotti are hedging their bets it’ll be the week of September 12.
- Following on from that, Grubb and Minotti have even suggested what might be there, indicating it’ll be a ‘Zelda Blowout’ with more news expected on Breath of the Wild 2, as well as Twilight Princess and Wind Waker remasters. They’ve even hinted a Metroid Prime Remake will be revealed and Grubb has previously suggested it could release in time for the 20th anniversary as soon as November!
- This week’s rumours definitely have a theme as a retail listing seems to have leaked Biomutant coming to Nintendo Switch and could even release as soon as next month. Sounds like a Nintendo Direct announcement to us.
- It also seems like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is getting another release on Switch with the Anniversary Edition getting rated. Thank goodness, I was getting worried we weren’t getting a new Skyrim re-release this year!
- And The Snitch is at it again on his own personal Discord, hinting through emojis that It Takes Two could also be making its way to Nintendo Switch. That would be neat.
- It’s not all Nintendo, though, but it’s another hot topic everyone’s been speculating about forever. The Silent Hill speculation just won’t go away and things are rumbling again with supposed leaked images of an internal pitch demo that got greenlit, that’s according to Dusk Golem. Then Andy Robinson of VGC and Jeff Grubb say news could be coming as soon as this month! We’ve been here before, folks…
- Finally, and still on Konami, they told us they’re announcing a new game related to a classic series at TGS. VGC believe the reveal will excite people though it’s not necessarily one of the Castlevania, Metal Gear or Silent Hill games they say are in development. That said, Nick Shepshal posted a very blatant two (twin) snake tease earlier this week, so who knows what to expect? It really has been one of those weeks again..
