Halo: Spartan Assault takes the franchise to Windows Phone 8

For the first time ever, Halo will be going to mobile devices with new game, Halo: Spartan Assault.

The game will be a top-down action shooter that makes best use of touch-screen devices. To give it an authentic flair, the game has been developed from the ground up by 343 Industries.

Set between Halo 3 and Halo 4, Spartan Assault goes back to the Spartan Ops programme and will put players right in the thick of the Human-Covenant Wars.

Players will either play Commander Sarah Palmer or Spartan Davis aboard the UNSC Infinity in 25 different missions. In single-player, there are leaderboards and weekly challenges. There are also achievements and mecdals to collect.

Excitingly, your progress in Spartan Assault will also offer Halo 4 rewards, such as emblems and more promised features post launch.

There’s no word on iOS or Android versions as yet. But hey, here’s a teaser anyway…
