Part 1 of Lost Records: Bloom is out now, bringing us another narrative tour-de-force from Don’t Nod.
In Bloom, you’ll get up to all sorts of mischief as Swan and her companions in crime – Kat, Nora, and Autumn – and one such moment sees you making a choice on a little espionage mission.
There’s more than one way to get where you shouldn’t, and we’re here to help you find the path best suited to your playstyle.
Story Spoilers to Follow
Towards the end of the episode, Swan, Nora, Autumn and Kat decide to hold a little concert outside The Blue Spruce but they don’t have everything needed to power their subwoofers, guitars and other instruments.
After a little reconassaince, the group realise they need to go around the back way of the bar in order to find an extension lead and power supply. No problem, except they’ve come face to face with another padlock. The party poopers.
This one is a little different from the one you faced in the Log Cabin, however, as there are a few different routes you can take.
Smash it open!
Once you’ve examined the padlock and realised you don’t know the combination, you’ll need to find another way of getting in. One way is by looking at the dumpsters right next to it, specifically the one furthest away.
Simply interact with it and look over, move the flat-packed box on the right over a little bit and there you’ll find a fire extinguisher, conveniently just lying there.
Grab it, head back over to the padlock and smash the door open. It’s loud and it’s tantamount to vandalism but if you’re in the mood for brute-forcing your way in then, well, this is the solution for you.
Get someone to open it!
Another option is getting someone to open the door for you, specifically Kat’s sister, Dylan. An idea comes to Swan when she’s looked at the padlock and then at the phone box on the right hand side that Kat could call her sister and ask her to open it.
Basically, Kat would need to convince Dylan to open the gate as she ‘lost’ something there and then the group can sneak through and get what they need.
It’s a risky one as you’ll need to quietly make your way through and try to create the least amount of disruption possible but you’re also bringing someone else into this and as you know Kat and Dylan’s dynamic definitely has some points of friction.
Find the combination!
This seems the most obvious and definitely doesn’t come without risks, but in terms of options, is probably your best bet if you’re trying to be cautious and inconspicuous. Fortunately, the combination can be found pretty close-by.
Once you’ve looked at the padlock, you may notice a motorbike parked outside and you’ll never guess who’s bike it is – Dylan’s boyfriend, Corey.
And considering Dylan works there, you’d think one of them would know the combination to the padlock, right? Sure enough, you can find it on his bike. In fact, it’s even been written down!
You’ll need to be quick, though, at the risk of getting caught. Once you’ve interacted with the satchel on the bike, you’ll find the combination attached to the back of a pager. Flip it over, pull out the sheet of paper tucked in behind it and unfold it. Lo and behold you’ve found the combination!
Quickly put everything back, walk away and dial it into the padlock.
For ease, the combination we used is Up, Right, Left, Up, Down. Again, try to input this as soon as you can, who knows who might be watching?
