The Last of Us Left Behind revealed

The singleplayer content we’ve all been waiting for is nearly here. The Last of Us: Left Behind drops on Valentines Day and will focus on the early days of Ellie as she spends time with her best friend, Riley.

The content will be part of the Season Pass, but can also be purchased separately for $14.99.

IGN have managed to get some early, exclusive info on the content through an interview with Riley’s voice actress, Yaani King.

Riley and Ellie are quarantined together in a boarding school, and Riley is seen as ‘sort of a mentor’ to Ellie. She also helps Ellie ‘explore and see different sides of the world that they live in’.

Riley doesn’t ‘really like following authority blindly’ and ‘she’s not interested in doing whatever it is she’s being told’. The actress explains that this is what pushes her in the direction of wanting to ‘become a firefly’

The IGN piece goes into more detail on the background of Left Behind, but the actress clearly emphasises that the tone of Left Behind will be quite different to that of The Last of Us.

‘There are moments in the DLC where you get to really learn the personalities and the heart of who these two girls are to each other through the adventures that they have’

‘There are some really fun, new, fresh dynamics and content that [is] in this that you don’t necessarily see in the original game which I think add to who they are and who Riley is.”

‘You get to see a side of Ellie, along with Riley, that is a bit more carefree, not so focused on the world that they live in and the reality in which they live in, but you get to explore a playful side of Ellie that you don’t necessarily get to see. And you get to see her through Riley, who’s kind of bringing these things out of her and loosening [her] up a bit.”

The interview is well worth a read and adds a few more colourful points as to how the game will play.

Expect a Left Behind review, right here on Expansive DLC when it launches on February 14th.
