Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remaster releasing in 2025

During the Capcom Spotlight event, a remaster of Onimusha 2 has been announced for this year.

Following the remaster of Onimusha 1 – Onimusha Warlords – from 2019, you’ll now be able to dive into Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny on PC, PS, Switch, and Xbox later this year.

Releasing as a PS4/XO game originally with backwards compatibility for XSX and PS5, Onimusha 2 seems to be a straight laced remaster of the classic PS2 game. Which is a great thing.

It’s previously only been playable on PS2 and has been a game a bit lost to time, but it follows a new protagonist and according to the website, his character model is based on Yusaku Matsuda, a  late Japanese actor famous in the 80s.

As Jubei Yagyu, you’re on a quest for revenge, but set in the same environment as the first game. This remaster will include new features and a bunch of quality of life improvements.

We’re excited to go back into this one 23 years later, and it will definitely help tide us over until Onimusha: Way of the Sword releases in 2026.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny launches later this year.
