Global matchmaking and competitive leagues are coming to Pokémon GO next year.
GO Battle League intends to revamp Trainer Battles and evolve the way PvP is handled in Pokémon GO from the ground up.
Niantic announced the feature is in development earlier today, saying more details will be announced in a special Dev Insights video coming soon.
All we know right now is that GO Battle League will encourage players to do what Pokémon GO already does very well – go out walking.
Walking seems to be the currency needed in order to earn entry into the GO Battle League, enabling you to battle opponents all over the world.
Beat those other trainers and you’ll be able to rise through the ranks of the league. Sounds interesting.
The update will come early 2020 and more news is expected in the coming weeks.
