Next week, the latest instalment in the Sonic Racing series comes to all platforms and it’s coming in hot!
On September 25, you’ll be able to race across all surfaces and warp through Travel Rings during the courses that will take you into new dimensions. There’s solo or team play, as well as online and offline modes, and even the option to customise your vehicle.
The game comes in shortly after Nintendo dropped Mario Kart World earlier this year and in a similar vein, lets you play as 23 Sonic characters – including Knuckles, Shadow, Tails and Amy. But it’s also doing some unexpected crossovers with other franchises!
By picking up the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Digital Deluxe Edition, you can play the game three days early, but you’ll also get three Sonic Prime Characters and the Season Pass which includes 6 content packs and characters from other major IPs.
Beginning with the Minecraft Pack in Q4 2025, you’ll get Steve, Alex and the Creeper as playable characters, as well as a minecart vehicle, a Minecraft World track, along with emotes, music and additional sounds!
It’s also been confirmed that there will be packs featuring Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mutant Mayhem and Avatar Legends. Here’s the rest of the confirmed lineup, so far…
• SpongeBob SquarePants Pack – SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star playable characters, the Patty Wagon vehicle, Bikini Bottom track, new original music, 6 Emotes per character, and additional sounds (Releasing Q4 2025)
• PAC-MAN Content Pack – PAC-MAN and Team Ghost playable characters, the PAC-MAN Mobile vehicle, PAC-Village & Maze track, 6 Emotes per character, and 8 Sounds (Releasing Q1 2026)
Content Pack 4 with the Turtles is due Q1 2026 and Content Pack 5 featuring Avatar releases Q3 2206. Content Pack 6, for now, remains a mystery, and also launches in Q3 2026.
Meanwhile, the Sonic Prime Character Pack’s playable characters include
- Rusty Rose
- Tails Nine
- Knuckles the Dread
And if you pre-order Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, you’ll also get Werehog as a playable character, as well as the Werehog Vehicle ‘Beast Spike’ and Werehog Decal. Phew!
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds sounds incredible and you don’t have long to wait as it will be playable from September 23 on PC, PS, Xbox and Switch.
