The Last of Us Part II certainly stands alone as its own game and it seems that’s how it will stay.
During the Kinda Funny Games Gamescast which runs through all the main plot points of The Last of Us Part 2, Greg asks Game Director, Neil Druckmann about the possibility.
This would follow a pattern from the first game, which saw Left Behind added later on, introducing Riley to the game. However, it doesn’t seem like we’re getting that this time around.
Druckmann confirmed on the show that ‘there’s no plans for DLC’.
While that could change, it doesn’t seem likely. Druckmann went further with his comments, saying..
“With Last of Us, I think we had some season pass or something that said ahead of time ‘we have some story DLC,’” Druckmann said when asked about the idea of getting DLC for the sequel akin to the first game’s Left Behind. “No, there’s no plans for DLC.”
This doesn’t include the rumoured multiplayer mode that has been discussed in the past. Though it sounds like this will now be a standalone project.
We’ve got some Last of Us Part 2 coming in the next few days, so be sure to stay tuned to Expansive.
