New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe coming to Switch with all packed in DLC

The side-scrolling 2.5D Mario Bros platformer from the Wii U is headed to Nintendo Switch in 2019.

Confirmed by today’s Nintendo Direct, New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will release on January 11th 2019 and will feature the base game as it originally appeared on Wii U, along with the New Super Luigi U DLC packed in.

In total, there will be 164 courses for four players to play together at any time. All they need is a single Joy-Con each! Not only will you be able to play as Mario, Luigi, and Toad, Nabbit and Toadette have been added to the game.

This makes the game a little easier for newer players as Nabbit won’t take any damage from his enemies, and Toadatte can turn into Peachette with a Super Crown and then double jump, float, and even boost up if she seemingly hurtles to her death.

This is the first 2.5D side-scrolling Mario Bros game on Switch, following on from Super Mario Odyssey, and is probably the final nail in the Wii U’s coffin with recent ports of Bayonetta, Captain Toad Treasure Tracker, and Mario Kart 8 already making their way across. It’s a fantastic game and one every Switch owner should definitely be very excited about.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe will seemingly be the first major Switch release of 2019 when it hits on January 11th.
