The next iteration of the Call of Duty franchise has been officially announced. Infinite Warfare from Infinity Ward will drop November 4th and will ship with a remastered version of Call of Duty 4, the original Modern Warfare.
Infinite War is a series first for Call of Duty as a portion of it will take place in the expanse of the Solar System, as well as Earth. Infinite Warfare will have a futuristic setting which includes new gameplay innovations and experiences, and will primarily be a story-driven experience.
The player will own a warship and must take control to battle a relentless enemy known as the Settlement Defense Front with new weaponry – such as space fighter ships – to fight against new backgrounds. The game’s multiplayer system has once again been evolved, with deliberate changes to the game’s movement system.
It’s full of robots, large scale warrior vessels, and a ridiculous amount of explosions, then it goes full-blown Star Wars. Here’s the trailer to give you a taste of what to expect.
There will also be an original cooperative zombies mode, complete with a new storyline. Here is the first captured image, courtesy of Reddit.
And if you preorder the Legacy Edition, you’ll get treated to a full remastering of Call of Duty 4’s online and campaign modes – suited for current-generation systems – from both Infinity Ward and Raven Software.
The remastering will have complete new-gen polish, including improved texture resolution and detail, high-dynamic range lighting, lit and shadowing VFX particles and revamped animation and audio. It will feature all the missions from the original game, as well as the online multiplayer mode complete with killstreaks, XP and Prestige. It will be a full-game download and there does not seem a retail version of the game is planned.
10 Fan-Favourite Maps will also make a return, including Crash, Backlot and Crossfire. Also courtesy of Reddit, here’s a picture comparison of COD 4 and MW Remastered…
There’s also a brief video from today’s livestream which shows the comparison between several levels much more clearly. A lot of work has gone into this.
Expect more information at this years’ E3. For now, bere’s the full list of the available packages that will be available come November 4th…
