We reported on this some time ago, but have just found further news that the development team for Dark Souls 2 is not expecting any DLC. At least, the producer has no plans to develop any.
In an interview with Edge, Takeshi Miyazoe said they (From Software) are not planning on DLC at this stage.
The development team previously stated this back in February, but clearly still have not budged from their original stance.
‘For Dark Souls 2, we don’t even expect any additional downloadable content because we want to deliver a full game, the full experience, to fans who purchase the package from day one.’
‘We did do additional content for Dark Souls, but generally downloadable content for Dark Souls 2 is not really being considered. Buy the package and you’ll get the full experience, and you’ll have as much fun as anybody else.’
The interview also reflected on the team’s stance on Free to Play and whether the company had experienced any pressure from NAMCO Bandai to make Dark Souls F2P.
The answer? ‘Spending a couple dollars on certain items does not help the experience. So no free-to-play yet.’
There we are then.
Dark Souls 2 releases on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in March 2014.
