As part of the January 28th patch for Guild Wars 2, players will be able to guest on other servers and now have to pay to transfer servers.
Guesting is something that ArenaNet have been working on for a while. It was due to be part of the game when it launched back in August, but was removed for technical reasons. It does come with restrictions, however; players will only be able to guest on servers within the same region (EU/NA) due to character storage on the different region’s data centres.
While guesting, players will be able to access almost every aspect of the game apart from World vs World.
Costing for server transfers will be based on the server’s population, moving to a high population server will cost more than one with a medium population and the seven day transfer limit will remain.
This all comes as part of ArenaNet’s plan to update the game through the first quarter of 2013, with more updates coming throughout the rest of the year.
