Beyond the premium upgrades for the likes of Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Party Jamboree, there’s also free patch upgrades for several games.
The premium upgrades offer new content for the price, but these patch updates essentially enhance the experience for Switch 2 and hopefully address previous performance issues.
Notably, there are several games that will really benefit from these upgrades – particularly The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Echoes of Wisdom, as well as Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
It’s believed these updates will improve frame rate and general performance, but exactly what they do is fully unclear. Here’s the full list of games expected to get free updates on Switch 2 launch day.
The official description suggests these free updates ‘improve playability’ on Nintendo Switch 2 and that may ‘improve performance’ or even add support for features ‘such as GameShare in select games’. Contents will vary.
