Persona 5 Royal Confirmed for 2020 on PS4, expands on original with new modes and features

Persona 5 Royal is coming to the West in 2020 on PlayStation 4 and it’s bringing a host of new features with it.

Expanding on the original Persona 5 world, players will get a new addition to the ranks of the Phantom Thieves – Kasumi Yoshizawa.

This gymnast enters the Shujin Academy during the Spring and comes with high expectations.

A second new character is also joining the game – Takuto Maruki – who is being appointed as a counselor at Shujin Academy.

A third semester is being added to Persona 5, along with an all new district – Kichijoji. This includes new romance spots, as well as a darts mini game.

On top of that, there will be tougher monsters, graphical upgrades to support PS4 Pro, new music and vocals, assist commands, and more to be announced and revealed.

Basically, this isn’t just a standard upgrade and almost seems like a brand new game.

It’s unclear whether existing Persona 5 owners will be able to purchase the Royal content as DLC, or whether you’ll have to buy Royal as well.

What we do know is that the game will launch first in Japan later this year with a limited and standard edition. We expect more news soon.
