During our interview with Brandon Adler, the Game Director for Pillars of Eternity 2’s DLC at Gamescom, we learned a bit more about the final DLC, The Forgotten Sanctum.
The Forgotten Sanctum will feature some heavy choices and consequences for the player and include one major decision at the end which should have players really excited.
As Brandon says.
I will say – without spoilers – I think the choice at the end of that one is going to be really, really cool. People are going to be digging it.
As well as offering a strong focus on dungeon-diving, the big news is that The Forgotten Sanctum will be a spellcaster focused DLC and will be a real treat for cloth-wearers.
What I can really get into is that it is spellcaster focused, so for those who’ve rolled a spellcaster they’re going to have a lot of new things to dig around in, like new spells and things like that. Lots of new equipment for them.
The Forgotten Sanctum certainly seems to be the most ambitious of the three pieces of DLC as Brandon anticipates there will be far-reaching consequences based on the decisions you make.
We are planning to have some additional reactivity with the game, even more so than we had with Beast of Winter and planning for Seeker, Slayer, Survivor. We will have more of a direct impact on some of things that deal with Eothas. I can’t get into exactly what that is but that will be there.
We can also exclusively confirm that there are no future plans for paid DLC after The Forgotten Sanctum. At least, for the moment.
Currently we do not have plans for any additional paid DLC after the third one, obviously that would depend on the perception of the content and what we’re doing.
Stay tuned to Expansive for the full interview as there’s lots of information about the future of the Pillars IP, the upcoming expansion, Seeker, Slayer, Survivor, and console releases.
