We’re all gamers. We’ve all seen incredible sights and heard amazing things. We’ve been sucked in by stories and left an emotional wreck when plots take unexpected twists and turns. We all know when a game feels right or plays well. We know what works about a game and what doesn’t. We all have our own likes and dislikes.
Not everybody can be a games critic or a great writer, but everybody has a story in them just waiting to be told. We want to harness that, nourish it, help it grow, and develop it.
We receive between 30,000 to 50,000 views a month. We have editors that will help you, guide you, and give you pointers and ways to improve if that’s what you desire. We can’t pay you. We’re not there just yet and won’t claim otherwise. We are doing everything possible to find a working model where we can pay our writers for their contributions and we aim to be in a position to do that in the future.
We can help you seek out freelance writing opportunities when you’re ready and give you guidance and support during that process. We offer access to events and provide opportunities to see the latest games long before they’re released and we will always be available to talk and reply to emails as/when they come to us. Between us, we have over 20 years of experience writing about games and being part of the industry and can impart that knowledge and guidance in order to hone your pitches, learn how to express your voice in your work, and help your work get into a solid, structural shape.
Expansive is a fun venture that tasks writers to look beyond standard conventions. Working with us will help expand your gaming imagination, help you to see things from a different perspective, and exercise your creative muscles. We look beyond standard writing flare and try to focus on areas that develop our industry, the small things that drive our games from the background, rather than the stories that are always in our faces.
If you would like to join our team and be part of the Expansive journey, please email two writing samples to expansive@expansivedlc.com – we will try our best to respond to every applicant.
