The Call of Duty franchise is expected to return later this year according to a listing for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Tesco accidentally broke the news for the forthcoming title Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Tesco Direct Site. The listing was quickly pulled from the site, but not before we all got a good look at the featured box art image.
The title Call Of duty: Ghosts may have initially suggested a move away from the Modern Warfare franchise for the series, however the box art features a soldier pulling on the famous (even infamous) skull adorned face mask worn by the character Ghost in previous titles of the series. Can we expect a prequel game focused on the popular character of Ghost?
Most importantly, the cover carried the Infinity Ward logo suggesting that the series has returned to the developer made famous through the Modern Warfare franchise. This would make sense being as the previous title Black Ops II was developed by Treyarch and Activison like to rotate the development of each iteration in the series between the two developers.
The listing also carries a 30/12/13 release date which isn’t the usual November release period normally reserved for Call Of Duty, suggesting it’s nothing but a place holder release date. It also suggests that this could be a cross-generation release for PS4 and the next generation of Xbox. At this time, Activison have made no official comment about the listing.
