Online Pass – Goodbye and Thanks for all the Fish

At last some good news for used games fans after the debacle of the Xbox One announcement. Those scoundrels at EA are looking slightly less scoundrelish after dropping their much maligned online pass. NeoGAF is reporting that the online passes for such Xbox games as Dragon Age, Skate 3 and Kingdoms of Alamar are now free on Xbox Live. You can check out the forum post listing them all here.

A Microsoft PR goon announced “As we discontinue Online Pass for our new EA titles, we are also in the process of eliminating it from all our existing EA titles as well. Players will see it first with some EA Sports titles, where a prompt to enter an Online Pass code will no longer appear in-game; with other titles we are simply making Online Passes available free of charge online.”

It looks like now would be a good time to keep your hands in your pockets season pass wise as it looks like these will be rolling out over the next few weeks or so.
