Square Enix have been working hard, for it has been announced that the previously titled Final Fantasy Versus XIII, revealed at an E3 conference seven years ago, is alive and well, and now set to be released on next generation consoles as the newly-branded Final Fantasy XV.
The title has been evolved and expanded to take advantage of the capabilities of next generation technologies, as whilst the main concept, world and storyline are set to stay in line with what was originally envisioned, the gameplay elements, action sequences and high quality visuals are set to match the technology of the next generation hardware, and from the recent trailer revealed at E3 this year, it certainly looks to be so.
Not a great deal is known about the story as of yet, apart from the following blurb.
The armed forces of Niflheim launch a devastating assault upon the Kingdom of Lucis, casting Crown Prince Noctis and his comrades out of their homes and into the fray. The engaging tale to follow draws audiences into an awe-inspiring world steeped in the rich storytelling traditions of Square Enix’s renowned First Production Development Team.
Final Fantasy XV is set to be released on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime in 2014.
