Guild Wars 2: Flame & Frost The Gathering Storm Detailed

ArenaNet have released details of the second part of the Flame & Frost series. Gathering Storm will bring a new sPvP mode based on ranking along with a new map, guild missions involving bounties, puzzles and another update to the existing daily achievements system.

Check the details out below…

Spirit Watch – Described as a “peaceful green vale, nestled between cliffside shrines to the Norn Spirits of the Wild”, Spirit Watch is the brand new sPvP which requires player to capture the Orb of Ascension and run it to any three shrines around the map.

Rated sPvP – Ranked matching will be available for teams in sPvP, this mode will match teams together of equal average rating. The ratings will be based on the average of each member in the team and are then adjusted once the match is over.

Guild Missions – For a while now, guilds have been requesting content aimed directly at them and ArenaNet hopes to fulfil those requests with guild missions.  Described by Arenanet as “designed for coordinated group play, include everything from bounties to group puzzles to cross-country challenges”. On competition, guilds will be rewarded with Guild Merits which can be cashed in for upgrades and rewards for the guild.

Daily Achievements – Players will now be able to select what daily achievements they want to complete to get the reward, this will allow players to fine-tune the achievements to their play style and reward them for what they want to play.

A March 2013 update has also been hinted at with a “Coming Soon” and padlock over the update page link.
