April tends to be a quieter month for the industry, but there’s certainly nothing silent about Yakuza 6 or God of War.
As far as DLC is concerned, there’s also a few heavy-hitters to get on your radar. Here’s everything we know in chronological order.

2018 FIFA World Cup Expansion
Release Date: April (FIFA Forums)
Format: PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One, Switch
Price: TBD
This is complete speculation at this point, but there could be a 2018 FIFA World Cup expansion for FIFA 18 this month. In previous years, major World Cup updates for the game have fallen in April.
• The 2002 World Cup game was released on 22 April 2002.
• The 2006 World Cup game was released on 24 April 2006.
• The 2010 World Cup game was released on 27 April 2010.
• The 2014 World Cup game was released on 15 April 2014.
We do know there will be a 2018 FIFA World Cup game as this was confirmed by French Commentator, Pierre Menes two weeks ago. Pierre is the official French commentator of both FIFA 17 and FIFA 18 and he confirmed that he had recorded commentary for a 2018 FIFA World Cup Game Mode.
Pierre has also revealed that the game will release before the competition, though did not know the date.
EA have confirmed nothing at this point, but it’s highly likely this will release as an expansion / DLC for FIFA 18 as there has been no suggestion of a seperate release. With the tournament looming, expect information on this soon.
Destiny 2 Gods of Mars Expansion 2
Release Date: April / May (GameRant More Console)

It’s quite possible this could release in May – and recent speculation leads us to believe it might be on May 8th, more specifically – but Bungie have confirmed that Destiny 2 will receive Expansion 2 in Spring 2018.
This expansion follows the controversial Curse of Osiris and is the second piece of content in the Expansion Pass. It is seperate from the major content pack expected this year, which will be similar in size and scope to The Taken King.
Expansion 2 is widely rumoured to be called Gods of Mars and will contain new story missions, cinematics, world quests and raid content.
Activision and Bungie have yet to confirm a title or date.
Assassin’s Creed Origins
Release Date: April
Format: PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One,
Price: TBD
While the Season Pass is over and done with, Ubisoft have confirmed that they’re not quite done with the latest Assassin’s Creed and we can expect to see more DLC as soon as this April.
What that is will be anybodies guess, but it’s likely to be related to the Trials of the Gods or perhaps some more cosmetic items. Personally, I’d quite like to see some Aya focused DLC and how her story continues. She certainly has plenty of it to tell, though that may be held back for the next Creed game. Either way, we’ll update this article when we hear more.
Splatoon 2 v 3.0
Release Date: Late April
Format: Switch
Price: Free
The major 3.0 update for Splatoon 2 is due to hit this month – supposedly in late April. This one is significant as it’s a massive content update, said to add as much as 100 new pieces of gear! There will also be more stages being rolled out, presumably from this update, including Camp Triggerfish, Piranha Pit, and Wahoo World.
On top of all that, you will be able to aquire the new Rank X, which is higher than S+
This is, of course, all in preparation for the game’s first-paid expansion in the Summer, the Octo Expansion, which will retail for $19.99 and have playable Octolings. Yowsers!
This article will continuously be updated through the month. If we missed anything, let us know!
