We got our first look at The Witcher IV today via an Unreal Tech Demo, shown off by CD Projekt RED.
Following the success of Cyberpunk 2077 and the global phenomenon that is The Witcher 3, the next instalment in the iconic franchise puts Ciri, front and centre.
And for the first time we got to see how that world might look, what you’ll get up to, all playing smooth as butter on a base PS5.
Now using Unreal Engine 5 as opposed to previously used custom engines, The Witcher 4 shows off some nanite geometry for the environments and what’s being called Nanite foliage.
They’re also saying more content can be brought in more quickly working in tandem with Epic. They also show some direct gameplay of Ciri walking through a marketplace and characters reacting to her, which then may set off chain reactions.
The game looks absolutely stunning already and we’re very much looking forward to seeing more and more of the world and eventually getting a release date.
The Witcher IV is not expected before 2026 and doesn’t have a release date as yet. So this tech demo will have to do. For now!
